Basovizza

Pepi Hotel is located in Basovizza, a small village at 337 meters (1105 feet) of height over the sea and surrounded by the green of the Karst Plateau and part of the Municipality of Trieste.
Within the area of Basovizza are also located two important scientific Institutions: the Astronomical Observatory of Trieste and Elettra Synchrotron, one of the most important Italian research centers.
Paths to the Igouza and Lipizza forests start a few meters from the Hotel. These are ideal pathways for people who love jogging or cycling, but also suitable for those who just want to walk quietly and enjoy in the natural beauty of the Karst. Padriciano

The Area Science Park, the main scientific campus of Trieste and one of the major scientific and technological parks in Italy, is located in Padriciano, at a distance of 3 kilometers from the Hotel.

Lipica

Lipica is about 2 km from Basovizza, in Slovenia. The beautiful park of Lipica hosts the renowned stable, where the gorgeous Lipizzaner white horses may be admired; visitors have the opportunity to visit the surroundings on a historic carriage, and to enroll in the riding school.
A golf club with a 9-hole course open 365 days a year is also available in Lipica.

Opicina

The International School for Advanced Studies of Trieste (SISSA) is located in Opicina, only 8 km away from Basovizza.
Moreover, the historical tram that connects the Karst Plateau to the Trieste city center leaves from Opicina. The tram route is very panoramic and offers breath-taking views on the Trieste bay.

Sgonico

The Grotta Gigante (Giant Cave), the world's largest show cave, is located in Sgonico about 10 km from Basovizza. There one can find also the botanic garden Carsiana hosting 600 species peculiar of the Italian and Slovenian Karst.
